For Country Music fans of all ages, Branson, Mo., offers a wonderful holiday-themed vacation destination with everything you would expect with numerous live singing and dancing performances, parades, light shows, and tours, where families can drive through hundreds of light displays. There is even a Christmas Tree Trail where giant trees are decorated and on display throughout Branson. An Old Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City is one of the most magical Christmas festivals in the nation. The entire park-every inch of it-is lit with millions of lights and there is a five-story special effects Christmas tree in the center of the park.

If dazzling Christmas lights combined with warm Florida winter weather and the magic of Disney is what you and your family crave, a holiday Walt Disney World vacation is a must. The entire park is lit up for the holidays with nightly parades, fireworks, and strolling carolers to go with Disney’s most endearing rides and attractions.

Believe it or not, you don’t actually have to fly to Germany to experience a wonderful Bavarian Christmas. Leavenworth, Wash., just 20 miles north of Seattle, is as close as you can come to experiencing a Germany Christmas. The Village of Lights is bright with more than 500,00 lights sparkling There is also a Christkindlmarkt, the Christmas Lighting Festival, live music and concerts, and the Bavarian Ice Festival in January.

For fans of the holiday classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life,’ the real town of Bedford Falls is located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State in Seneca Falls. The four-day It’s a Wonderful Life Festival includes horse-drawn carriage rides, a Christmas tree lighting, gingerbread house, light displays, musical concerts and even visits with some of the original cast members! The movie plays in town and there’s a Bailey’s Park Vendor Village for finding that perfect gift.

Families who would rather ski and snowboard on the slopes have a myriad of choices. Just a short two- to three-hour drive lies Sunday River in Bethel, Maine and Bretton Woods near the Mount Washington Hotel in New Hampshire, the Von Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vt., and several other ski resort areas.

Quebec City Christmas

Harry Potter fans can even tour the Warner Brothers Studios and see the Great Hall lined with Christmas trees and decorated with a Gryffindor theme.
